'Responding
to light' painting workshop
RESPONDING
TO LIGHT (even oysters do it). "Painting is a science,"
said John Constable, "a branch of natural philosophy."
Constable's studies of sea and sky in all kinds of weather
were an inspiration to Turner and later the Impressionists
in their attempts to capture the fleeting effects of nature.
With a brief introduction to the work of these artists, we'll
be making rapid studies in oils, (traditionally a slow medium),
on small panels which can be used later as the basis for larger
paintings.
