Coasters made from fused glass
Fused glass workshop
A rare chance to work with Oriel, using the kiln. Melt hard, sheet glass into beautiful, tactile objects. Learn to cut glass, design and make coasters, keyrings, lightpulls jewellery etc. in coloured sheet or cast, clear glass, with raised relief. You could expect to make up to four small items in the three hour class.
Location: Phoenix Stained Glass Studio, Phoenix Studios, Porthmellon Industrial Estate, St Mary's.
Cost: £20 per person
Date and time: Monday 14th May, morning (times t.b.c.) OR Wednesday 11th May, morning (times t.b.c.)
Additional information: Everything in the way of tools, materials (& first aid supplies) will be provided. Just bring your imagination & not too many preconceived ideas! It is advisable to book early for this class as student numbers are limited and it has proved very popular for the last two years.
 
 
Simple Mosaics
Design a small panel using pre-cut, opaque glass tesserae, glued to a board or glass sheet and grouted. Instruction also given on how to set a more elaborate mosaic into a wall as a permanent design.
Location: Phoenix Stained Glass Studio, Phoenix Studios, Porthmellon Industrial Estate, St Mary's.
Cost: £20 per person
Date and time: Tuesday 15th May, 2 - 5pm.

Tiffany glass workshop
Learn to cut, foil and solder pieces of stained glass together, to create a small, hanging light-catcher or mobile. Should you wish to continue with this craft as a hobby, this course will arm you with the knowledge you need to make bigger objects at home, like lampshades and terrariums. Oriel can also put you in touch with suppliers for purchasing materials and tools.
